Main Street's Vancouver Special doubled in size last week, which is good news for all Scandi-philes in this city: the shop features pieces from Hay, ArchitectMade and Muuto, cult faves from the cooler climes and some of my personal favourites. (For those in Calgary, fear not—Muuto and ArchitectMade are also at Kit on 17th Ave.) This Flow Jug from Muuto screams summer—perfect for pouring a cocktail on the patio—but it's the backstory that makes it so much more interesting. Designer Jakob Wagner wanted something simple—a large hole for filling, a small hole for pouring, a middle area for a firm grip—but it's not without artistry: “like a heart and its veins,” says the designer, “or a tree and its branches.” From $69 at Vancouver Special in Vancouver, vanspecial.com; at Kit in Calgary, kitinteriorobjects.com
